Weather: Chance of showers, risk of a T-storm Thursday, heating up Friday

Thursday’s outlook is cloudy and cooler but it’s back to highs heading towards 30 C starting Friday and into the weekend.

It was 18 C with light rain at the Ottawa airport as of 7 a.m. with a 40 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm Thursday afternoon and early evening, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The expected high is 21 C and the low is 14 C.

Friday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29 C, a humidex of 34 and a UV index of 9 or very high. Clear skies and a low of 16 C are predicted for Friday night.

Saturday is expected to be sunny and 30 C then clear and 18 C overnight.

Sunday’s forecast high is again 30 C but with a 60 per cent chance of showers, day and night. Sunday night is expected to dip to 17 C.

Monday is expected to be cooler again with a high of 23 C and a low of 11 C. There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers Monday and Monday night.

“Normals” for this time of year are highs of 25 C and lows of 15 C.
