‘Very traumatized’: Trigger of Hamilton ATV crash that killed two youngsters investigated


1st responders say they do not yet know what caused an ATV crash in rural Hamilton that killed two children and despatched their father to hospital.

Police say a 35-year-old Hamilton male was driving his facet-by-side ATV with his 8-yr-previous daughter and 6-12 months-old son in a field west of Miles Road when the car went into a 10-meter-deep pond all over 4 p.m. Saturday.

Hamilton law enforcement say the man was able to get out of the h2o and phone for help.

A team of law enforcement features, hearth fighters and paramedics recovered the small children and sent them to McMaster’s Children’s Hospital, but they died inspite of ongoing resuscitative attempts by paramedics

Personnel Sgt. Paul Corrigan said in an interview that law enforcement don&#8217t yet know why the ATV crashed into the pond, including that the force&#8217s collision device has dominated out alcohol as a contributing issue.

He states mental well being supports are remaining made available to initial responders, who are &#8220extremely traumatized.&#8221

&#8220Anyone involved is clearly really traumatized, so we haven&#8217t had an opportunity to job interview folks nonetheless,&#8221 states Corrigan.

Hamilton Paramedic Products and services Superintendent David Thompson states the kids&#8217s father was in stable issue when he was taken to hospital.

Corrigan suggests 17 patrol officers, fire personnel and paramedics were being among the first responders, and they ended up assisted by the force&#8217s marine device and a dive team from Peel Regional Law enforcement.
