Toronto man charged with 12 counts of fraud in alleged apartment rental rip-off


A man has been charged with a dozen counts of fraud after Toronto police alleged the suspect took deposit payments from victims and stopped returning their calls and messages.

In a statement produced by Toronto law enforcement investigators Tuesday afternoon, it&#8217s alleged the accused posted ads on Facebook Marketplace expressing an apartment unit at 30 Gilder Dr. (northeast of Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East) was for lease.

The assertion reported an unspecified amount of people today talked with the suspect and satisfied him at the condominium device. Officers reported the accused advised them he was the proprietor of the home.

It&#8217s alleged all the victims expressed an interest in renting the device and gave monetary deposits by means of e-transfer, cash order or hard cash.
