
A full of 23 persons have been taken to hospital in St. Catharines following a harmful office incident on Tuesday, Niagara Wellness confirms.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. at the THK Rhythm Automotive Plant in the Louth Street and Ridley Road place.

St. Catharines Fire Main Dave Upper told CTV News Toronto a contractor was working and unintentionally strike a valve, which launched 5 litres of hydrochloric acid.

Upper reported the acid turned to vapour and a few men and women had been nearby. They managed to shut the valve, but they had been uncovered to the fumes, he reported.

Officers on the scene stated about 20 other people today had been exposed, and decontamination showers were used. Most of them ended up taken to the medical center by bus.

Higher explained the exposure to the acid was a lot more insignificant, and the other 20 people today had been taken to the healthcare facility as a precaution.
