Previous Conservative senator Don Meredith billed with 3 counts of sexual assault


A former senator who resigned from the higher chamber amid scandals related to alleged sexual misconduct is now facing criminal costs.

Ottawa police say Don Meredith, 58, has been charged with a few counts of sexual assault and one count of prison harassment. A source verified to The Canadian Press that the male in issue was the previous senator.

Law enforcement say the expenses relate to incidents that allegedly took put in 2013 and 2014 and ended up described by an adult woman.

Meredith, whose reps could not quickly be attained for comment, has been unveiled on a promise to surface in courtroom.

Meredith, who was appointed to the senate by Stephen Harper in 2010, resigned in 2017 just after the Senate&#8217s ethics committee suggested that he be expelled for working with his situation to go after a sexual relationship with a teenager woman.

A second Senate investigation, unveiled in 2019, identified he experienced consistently bullied, threatened and intimidated his personnel, as perfectly as touched, kissed and propositioned some of them.
