She was out surveying the harm and looked out to the ocean. “Fiona was coming, she was coming with a vengeance, and I didn’t believe she was going to arrive that much in,” she stated.

“She knocked me on my rear and pushed me less than the Jeep,” she reported. Gillam held on to the bar underneath the auto.

She explained to CTV National News correspondent Adrian Ghobrial that there was a manhole that was sucking drinking water inas she struggled to maintain on. The power of the h2o was pulling Gillam down so her leg was pinned in the gap.

“I was just using in water…and I closed my mouth due to the fact I didn’t want too much drinking water. But I experienced to scream, and it was so cold and so salty,” she mentioned.

Her brother-in-law saw Gillam beingswept under the vehicle and yelled for neighbours to help and they did.

&#13
“I cannot thank the boys all-around below enough,” she explained, her voice breaking.

Gillam is not the only resident to have been knocked around by the storm surge Saturday. An elderly female in Port aux Basques died right after she was swept out to sea.
