“According to initial information, a Caravan came to a standstill on the side of the road after a mechanical failure, heading east. A 22-year-old passenger then got out of the vehicle and it was then that the driver of a sedan hit him. He suffered serious injuries that put his life in danger,” said agent Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The 31-year-old man who was driving the sedan was arrested for impaired driving. He was expected to appear in court Saturday to face charges.

Officer Scholtus reminds motorists to use the utmost caution when stopping on expressways.

“People are asked to stay in their vehicle until the emergency services arrive,” especially since the Ville-Marie tunnel is equipped with surveillance cameras from the Ministère des Transports du Québec.
