There were workshops and street buskers and contests over the fun-filled weekend.
The Vaudevillians — Jitterbug James and Sweet Sassy Norah Spades — performed 1930s jug band ragtime blues and dancing numbers from the prohibition period, while Dr. Houligan’s Traveling Variety Show offered magic and juggling shows under a big top tent.
A highlight of the festival was the return of Sir Thomas Nigel Tinkerton to host the teapot race. Festivalgoers were invited to create their own radio-controlled teapot to enter in the competition.
Rounding out the annual event were axe-throwing contests, wand-making workshops, pirate training and a scavenger hunt.
The Uncommon Festival is hosted by the town, sponsored by River Bookshop with additional funding from the Government of Ontario.
