The federal govt is switching how the online is regulated in Canada. Monthly bill C-11, also known as the On the net Streaming Act, is new legislation that will give the Canadian Radio-tv and Telecommunications Fee (CRTC) the endeavor of regulating businesses like Netflix, YouTube and TikTok, similar to what it does with radio and tv broadcasting. Many critics point out that net streaming is incredibly diverse and problem if a identical method is the suitable plan. There are also considerations about where by user-generated articles suits in. Jon Festinger, an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s Peter A. Allard Faculty of Regulation and a faculty member in the Centre for Electronic Media, joins “This Matters” to go over.
