The Kinsmen Express II had its first group of passengers on Thursday morning. The new electric, trackless train brings with it the return of guided tours of the zoo, which visitors have been “anxiously awaiting,” said zoo manager Jeff Mitchell.

“We are so thankful to the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation for their continued partnership and contributions that led to the return of this much-loved attraction at the Zoo,” he said in a release.

The train is equipped with a ramp and wheelchair accessible car. Tours are free with zoo admission and guided by the Saskatoon Zoo Society.

Visitors will have their first opportunity to ride the train on Friday. Tours run continuously from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with extended hours on weekends throughout July and August, until Labour Day.
