The first responders did “resuscitation manoeuvres” to try to revive the nine-year-old. She was transported to hospital, where her death was declared, SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville said on Sunday evening.
The seven-year-old child was also injured, but her life was not in danger.
“We have an investigator and the forensic identification service on site who will proceed with an analysis of the scene,” Dorsainville said.
She could not say whether the children had been in the presence of an adult when the incident took place.
