This is why you always check the parade route.

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Bowen Byram nearly got kicked out of Colorado’s championship parade when a police officer thought he was a civilian who had jumped over the barricades.

The officer tried to get Byram, who was carrying a beer, to get out of the centre of the street even though he protested. It was caught on video. Luckily some Avalanche fans were able to convince the officer that Byram was on the team and he was allowed to keep going.

Earlier, Byram had told reporters, “The last four days (since Colorado beat Tampa Bay to win the Stanley Cup), I don’t remember much.”

Byram had left the truck he was on to take pictures with fans and nearly ended up with them.

Byram, of Cranbrook, B.C., wasn’t done. When Avs players were introduced he came out when teammate Erik Johnson was called during player introductions.

Meanwhile, more hijinks occurred in Denver when the Stanley Cup was delivered by mistake to a couple.

Instead of going to team captain Gabriel Landeskog, it instead went to the Hilltop neighbourhood of Denver.

Fox 31 reported Kit Karbler got the Cup.

“They got the wrong address for the Stanley Cup and were delivering it to my house instead of Landeskog’s,” he wrote on the Nextdoor app. “Got to see it and touch it in my driveway!”

Philip Pritchard, the Keeper of the Cup for the Hockey Hall of Fame, told Flynn the mix-up occurred because they “couldn’t really see the number of the house” and decided to go knock on the door.
